As a senior high school student at CIC you are beginning to make some grown-up decisions about

how to spend and save your money. We would like to provide some tips to help you manage your money

wisely. One of the most important things to remember is to save some money before you are tempted to

spend it. Put 10% in a savings account in case you need some extra cash later on. A good way to manage

your money is to decide on a minimum amount to spend each week or month. Also, keep track of your

expenses. This will give you an idea of where your money is going each month.

It is also important to remind teens to “think before you buy.” Too often teens make quick and

costly decisions to buy clothes or electronics without “price checking” other stores. Try to shop around a

little before making a big purchase. Think about how many hours at work you would have to spend to be

able to purchase expensive items. Also, it is wise to consider if the item you wish to purchase is a luxury

or a necessity. During school, purchase should be made for necessities only.
